Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical-Surgical Telemetry position in the Nursing Float Pool, requiring a current MA RN license and rotating 12-hour shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Work in the hospital's Nursing Float Pool, covering medical-surgical and telemetry patients
  • Patient ratios range from 1 : 4 to 1 : 6, with assignments in ED holds, inpatient holds, PACU, and other boarding units as needed
  • 12-hour rotating shifts, switching between days and nights in 4-week blocks (7a-7 : 30p, 7p-7 : 30a)
  • Every other weekend is required (days : Saturday / Sunday; nights : Friday / Saturday / Sunday)
  • Floating occurs in 4-hour blocks during shifts, though floating every 4 hours is rare
  • Level 1 trauma experience is preferred; if no recent travel experience, Level 1 trauma background is required
  • Provide direct patient care in a variety of adult care units as assigned within the float pool
  • Holiday time off for Christmas will not be approved
  • Relias practice tests are available to help prepare for required testing
  • Team structure may include floating to support multiple units as needed
  • Appropriate scrubs must be worn per facility requirements

  • Active Massachusetts RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS (AHA) certification required
  • ACLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications preferred
  • Minimum 6-month separation required for former employees of the health system (including travel, perm, or per diem roles)
  • COVID-19 vaccine and booster, and seasonal flu vaccine required (medical exemptions allowed)
  • Not open to local candidates; must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
  • Pass / fail testing on Tele / ECG and medication required on first day
