American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a nights Med / Surg, Tele, and PCU Float Pool position requiring AZ or compact RN license and advanced cardiac certification.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a float pool covering Med / Surg, Telemetry, and Progressive Care Units (PCU) across two campuses in an acute care settingPatient populations include geriatric, orthopedic, post-MI, post-cardiac cath, and post-op CABG patientsExpected nurse-to-patient ratios : PCU 1 : 4, Med / Surg Tele 1 : 5-6Nurses will be assigned to various units including holding in the ED and stepdown units with exposure to cardiac careUse Cerner EMR systemRequired to work night shifts (12 hour), every other weekend, and be first to float as neededAssignment locations and units are communicated 2 hours prior to shift startNo on-call or standby requirementsResponsibilities include floating to Med / Surg, Tele, and PCU units, caring for complex cardiac and post-surgical patientsNurses are supported by charge nurses (who do not take assignments) and nurse aides on all unitsNight shift nurses may work with CPAP / BiPAP and heated high-flow equipment, especially in the PCUMonitor techs support the telemetry function, but nurses must interpret strips independentlySolid color professional scrubs required; transitioning to navy scrubs per upcoming guidelinesOrientation includes a general hospital day, plus unit-specific shifts at both campusesTravelers will be included in the permanent staff holiday rotationFailure to pass required testing or sterile technique assessments may result in ineligibility for future assignments at related facilities\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license in handMinimum 2 years of RN experience with at least 1 year in a PCU settingCurrent certifications : BLS and ACLSMust pass a dysrhythmia exam before contract confirmationAbility to titrate and manage a range of drips including Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and InsulinCompetency in rhythm interpretation and strip readingMust provide a copy of driver's license for considerationTwo professional references : one from a supervisor within the past 12 months and another peer / supervisor from within the past 3 yearsMust not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past yearResidence must be at least 50 miles from the facility\n Benefits\n
