Job Overview
Education Consultant 3 in the Office of Teaching & Learning – Numeracy Division. Reporting to the Education Consultant Supervisor, the role supports instructional leaders, school leaders, and teachers in the northeast region of Louisiana to improve numeracy outcomes through direct coaching and resource development.
Focus Area
Provide field support to K-12 school systems in the northeast region, focusing on high-quality numeracy instruction, curriculum alignment, and instructional improvement cycles.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Louisiana K-12 Student Standards for Mathematics and current research in math education.
- Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, and project management skills.
- Proficiency with technology, including Microsoft Office, Excel, Google Workspace, and data analysis tools.
- Experience collaborating with stakeholders to promote a coherent field message supporting Louisiana's academic strategy.
- Prior instructional or leadership coaching experience.
- Graduate-level degree in mathematics education, curriculum and instruction, educational leadership, or a related field.
- Effective use of data to adjust curriculum, instruction, and assessment at both school and system levels.
Experience
Seven years in education, teaching, or administrative services; ORSix years of full-time work experience plus four years in education, teaching, or administrative services; ORA bachelor's degree plus four years in education, teaching, or administrative services; ORAn advanced degree plus three years in education, teaching, or administrative services.Job Duties
Provide job-embedded field support to assigned school systems and leaders on effective numeracy instruction.Build collaborative relationships to understand and develop numeracy goals and strategies.Develop resources and tools to improve math outcomes in K-12 classrooms.Design and deliver statewide professional learning on numeracy resources, curriculum, collaborative planning, and assessment.Support systems in creating, monitoring, and tracking progress toward numeracy plans.Collaborate with leadership to set school- and system-wide math achievement goals.Adjust instruction and assessment systematically based on data from multiple sources.Align numeracy support tools across K-12 with Louisiana's academic strategy.Conduct interactive sessions ensuring effective implementation of initiatives and programs.Assist in implementing projects such as strategic planning, grants, contracts, and administration.Position-Specific Details
Probational, promotional, or job appointment. The successful candidate may report to the Baton Rouge office. Current classified state employees may be required to accept a probationary appointment. Work days are Monday to Friday. The SER base salary is $28.96 above the minimum hire rate.
