Swiss CNC Lathe Setup Technician (Star Platform)

Location : Hillside, IL (12 miles west of downtown Chicago)

Step into a newly built, air-conditioned, and meticulously organized production facility at Belden Universal and make an immediate impact. As our Swiss CNC Lathe Setup Technician, you’ll own the setup and operation of Star Swiss-type equipment, producing precision components for the mechanical power transmission industry.

A day in this role

You arrive to a clean, modern shop floor and review the day’s work orders. You translate blueprints and GD&T into an executable plan, set tools, verify offsets with first-article checks, and run tight-tolerance parts to international standards. You keep a close eye on quality, adjust programs and tooling as needed, document everything, and keep equipment running at peak performance.

What you’ll do

• Translate work orders, blueprints, materials, specs, and machining parameters into precise setups; interpret GD&T.
• Set up and operate Automatic and CNC Swiss / Star lathes to hit tight tolerances consistently.
• Install and adjust a variety of turning tools; load bar stock / feeding mechanisms safely.
• Verify setups via first-run and in-process inspections; measure positions and features to standards.
• Run turning, facing, grooving, drilling, knurling, and thread chasing operations with confidence.
• Troubleshoot quality or process issues; adjust offsets, reprogram as needed, sharpen / replace tooling.
• Follow quality procedures (including AS9100 practices) and safety protocols at all times.
• Complete preventive maintenance and resolve minor equipment issues per manufacturer guidance.
• Maintain accurate production and quality logs.
