The primary responsibility of this position is to provide mechanical engineering services and support in order to promote safe, efficient, and reliable production runs to operations including the implementation and delivery of cost-effective capital and major maintenance projects.
What You Will Do :
Assist in the conceptualization, development, and execution of capital projectsDevelop a detailed scope of work, budgets, and schedulesAssist in preparation of Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) requestsAssist with project construction, commissioning, and handoverConsult with supervisors, tradespeople, operators, and purchasersProvide input into the design and optimization of equipment to maximize reliability and performanceSolicit contractors, vendors, and consultantsConduct engineering reviews of project plans, drawings, materials, and installationsAbility to coordinate, facilitate and conduct internal and external project review meetingsSupervise trades and contractors for safety and qualityAct as a point of contact / liaison, provide technical support for consulting engineers, contractors, suppliers, and external agenciesTravel to all US manufacturing facilities to provide technical support including troubleshooting, problem-solving, equipment assessments, and sharing of best practices and corporate standardsStudy and understand process flows, and equipment functionalityHandle a wide range of verbal, written, and presentation communications including progress report writing, presentations on project status to peers, managers, and mill employeesProvide auxiliary support to facilities for shutdowns, safety projects, and other duties as assignedUnderstand and apply applicable external codes and standards and regulations (ie. OSHA, NFPA, Building Code, etc.)Assist in the development of internal safety and project standardsSpecial projects and other duties as assigned.Qualifications You Will Need :
Completion of a Mechanical Engineering Degree from an accredited institution is requiredExcellent skills in all forms of communicationThe ability to read Civil, Structural, and Mechanical Drawings is requiredProven interpersonal and leadership / supervisory skills including planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring of work activities to achieve project objectivesStrong computer skills with experience in MS Office, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and Microsoft Power BI are requiredStrong problem-solving and project management skills are requiredAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamSelf-starter with a desire to progress, learn, grow and succeedAbility to communicate effectively in oral and written form with all levels of the organizationAs a member of the engineering group, you will be expected to model / lead safety behavior, be positive and supportive of company goals and objectives, and value diversity.Embody the West Fraser traits of integrity, respect, humility, hard work, and frugalityPreferred skills
