Network Director, Medication Safety and Regulatory Compliance

Job Summary : The Network Director, Medication Safety and Regulatory Compliance leads the development, implementation, and oversight of system-wide medication safety, quality, and regulatory programs. This position ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and accrediting body standards, including Joint Commission, DNV, CMS, DEA, FDA, and Board of Pharmacy regulations. The Director serves as the enterprise expert on medication safety, adverse drug event prevention, and best practice alignment across inpatient and ambulatory settings. Reports to the VP, Acute Care Pharmacy Services, with a dotted line to the SVP, Chief Pharmacy Officer

Responsibilities :

  • Develop and implement enterprise-wide medication safety programs and best practice standards.
  • Lead system regulatory readiness efforts for all pharmacy operations across hospitals and ambulatory sites.
  • Establish and monitor metrics related to safety, compliance, and audit performance.
  • Oversee policy development and standardization of procedures to align with national standards.
  • Partner with Quality, Risk Management, and Nursing to lead medication event review and RCA processes.
  • Provide oversight of USP

compliance, controlled substance management, and hazardous drug handling.

  • Coordinate system responses to regulatory surveys and inspections.
  • Serve as the liaison to system safety committees, reporting trends and action plans to executive leadership.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that reduce harm and enhance patient safety culture.

  • Qualifications / Requirements :

    Experience : Minimum of 8–10 years in health-system pharmacy; at least 5 in a leadership role focused on regulatory compliance or medication safety.

    Education : PharmD required; advanced degree (MS, MHA, MBA, or MPH) preferred..

    Licenses / Certifications : Current NYS pharmacist license required, or eligible to obtain within 90 days of hire.

    Other : Certification in Medication Safety (BCPS or CPPS) preferred
