Senior Support Investigator (Help Program) - Cortland County DSS

The work involves responsibility for planning, coordinating and supervising the activities of Support Investigators. The incumbent in this position is responsible for implementing procedures to ensure compliance with State and Federal laws and rules. The Senior Support Investigator may provide training to lower level investigators, guidance in resolving complex cases, and evaluate employee performance. In addition to some supervisory responsibilities, the incumbent is also responsible for maintaining a caseload and carrying out the duties of a Support Investigator. Work is performed under general supervision of the Coordinator of Child Support with leeway allowed for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out the details of the work. Does related work as required.

Work Hours : Full Time, 35 hours per week with benefits

Salary : $23.7424-$30.0519 / hr. (CSEA Union)

Location : Cortland County Department of Social Services

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Open Competitive :

• Possession of a Bachelor's degree or higher; OR
• Possession of an Associate's degree or higher and two (2) years of experience examining, investigating, or evaluating claims for assistance; OR
• Possession of a high school diploma or an equivalency diploma and four (4) years experience as described in (b); OR
• An equivalent combination of training or experience as defined by the limits of (a), (b), and (c).

Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education / U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. Promotional :

Promotion is limited to employees with current permanent status as Support Investigator who have held the title of Support Investigator for at least twelve (12) months.
