Special Education Specials Teacher

SUMMARY : The Specials Teacher is responsible for providing students with structured programming, teaching leisure skills in the day-school environment. This position will introduce students to a variety of skills, including social interaction, coping skills, life skills, physical activity, and leisure skills. Structured activities will include opportunities for imagination, rational thinking, performance, presentation, and the pursuit of a hobby. The Specials Teacher will work with classroom teachers, therapists, and program staff to integrate themes into a cohesive learning experience across all environments. This position may need to substitute in classrooms for Special Education Teachers.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :
GENERAL HOURS OF DUTY : Generally 8 AM - 4 : 30 PM, Monday through Friday. Additional or flexible hours or days of work may be required . This is an exempt, benefited position averaging a minimum of 40 hours of work per week.
