Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with engineering on constructability and design issues relating to the electrical discipline, including installation and testing of electrical systems, lighting systems, high voltage equipment, grounding, lightning protection, and fire detection systems.
  • Develop work plans, coordinate material take-offs and requisitions, perform and document inspections, report progress, and resolve conflicts in design and construction related to electrical installations and testing.
  • Establish an electrical design / field engineering working relationship with the Project Engineer, including agreement on electrical deliverables and construction application configuration management.
  • Be responsible for quantity take-off, control, tracking, reporting, and forecasting for the electrical discipline.
  • Coordinate with the Electrical Superintendent for field procured materials, substitutions, services and equipment including panels, motors, and switchgear.
  • Review material receiving reports and warehousing to ensure delivery of correct electrical materials.
  • Coordinate interfaces for electrical data exchange to support the construction automation plan and project controls at the jobsite.
  • Support the electrical construction quality program.
  • Coordinate with Electrical Superintendent to plan and support construction schedules.
  • Plan and recommend electrical procedures to be implemented by the Electrical Superintendent to ensure construction operations meet design and specifications.
  • Work with project engineering, start-up engineering, and operating personnel to coordinate electrical construction activities.
  • Coordinate subcontract activities to ensure electrical materials, equipment, and quality comply with design plans and specifications; interpret vendor design documents and installation manuals.
  • Implement controls over variables affecting electrical installation progress and ensure timely delivery of drawings, materials, and equipment; utilize corporate programs as applicable.
  • Plan and prepare electrical work packages.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Electrical Superintendent.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements :

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field + 2 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Heavy Civil construction and field experience.
  • Ability to understand P&IDs, control schematics, electrical single-line drawings, and system drawings (I&C, Fire Alarm, HVAC Control, Security).
  • Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk-downs (extensive walking, climbing ladders / scaffolding, use of PPE, working in confined spaces).
  • Experience in construction and technical inspection of electrical design (installation and testing of electrical systems, lighting, HV equipment, grounding, and cable pulling).
  • Commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and Zero Accident safety program.
  • Computer-literate in word processing, CAD, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Familiar with current industry quality standards.
  • Beginner to advanced experience in field engineering activities.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E.
  • Experience using Accubid for takeoffs and bid processes is helpful.

  • The salary range for this position is between $85,000-$115,000 per year depending on experience and / or education.
