This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Information Security Director in the United States .

As an Information Security Director, you will lead and continuously improve a comprehensive security program for a fast-growing technology platform serving enterprise-level education clients. You will work at the intersection of policy, compliance, engineering, client enablement, and risk management, ensuring the organization maintains high security standards while enabling business growth. This role offers broad organizational visibility, influence, and ownership of security initiatives, including regulatory compliance, vendor management, incident response, and AI security practices. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to strengthen security posture, guide strategic decisions, and foster a culture of security awareness across the company. The position requires a strategic, hands-on professional capable of managing priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Accountabilities

  • Own and evolve the organization’s information security program, covering compliance, vendor and tool reviews, operational security practices, incident response, and documentation.
  • Maintain and renew certifications such as SOC 2 Type 2 and prepare for future certifications while supporting cyber insurance renewals and internal audits.
  • Represent the company’s security posture in client-facing materials, RFPs, and due diligence questionnaires, including leading penetration tests when required.
  • Provide senior leadership with clear, data-driven insights on security posture, KPIs, and risk management to guide planning and investment decisions.
  • Establish and maintain secure evaluation processes for new vendors, AI applications, integrations, and system-level tools.
  • Guide secure and responsible use of AI technologies, including internal tools and external communications.
  • Lead security awareness training and promote a security-conscious culture across the organization.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in information security roles, including program-level responsibility, audits, and vendor reviews.
  • Deep expertise in platform and application security, security operations, GRC, and enterprise security practices.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of security policies, risk management, vulnerability management, incident response, and regulatory compliance.
  • General understanding of FERPA, PPRA, and COPPA.
  • Experience preparing organizations for SOC 2 certification.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated, quick learner with a continuous improvement mindset.
