Description
I Accountability Objectives :
The Trauma Registry Coordinator - RN identifies, collects, codes and enters reportable clinical data into the appropriate Registry database. Performs follow-up on all eligible cases. Provides incidence, treatment and outcome data for quality improvement activities, administrative planning, support programs and research activities. Provides assistance to appropriate management conferences, committee meetings, statistical reports, special studies and research activities. Works collaboratively with Trauma Program Manager and Injury Prevention Coordinator to meet American College of Surgeon data driven outcomes for verification.

Responsibilities
III Duties / Responsibilities :
Retrieve identifiable records from the Health Information management department or other sources. Maintain a file of all applicable cases. Identify eligible cases for inclusion in the registry database using appropriate resources. Conducts follow-up of all eligible cases entered into the registry database and reports eligible cases to the appropriate state and national databases. Abstracts, codes, and enters clinical information into the registry database in a timely and accurate manner per American College of Surgeons standards. Ensures integrity of the database by identification of data problems or inconsistencies, and makes needed corrections. Completes quality control activities, information requests, quality improvement studies and research projects. Analyzes the information in the medical record to determine complications of care or variations from quality standards. Assists with the coordination, attendance and documentation required for conferences. Represents SJMO at local, state and national registrar activies as the opportunities are available. Communicates and collaborates with other departmental staff and health care professionals both inside and outside of SJMO. Performs support related to maintenance of American College of Surgeons (ACS) certifications.
