Job Overview

Project Coordinator, Center for Youth Justice, McCourt School of Public Policy - Georgetown University .

The operation of the Center for Youth Justice (CYJ; formerly the Center for Juvenile Justice Reform / CJJR) Certificate Programs is crucial to the overall function of the organization. When the Center began, we operated just one Certificate Program at Georgetown University, which has since expanded into 5-7 per year and hundreds of new nationwide leaders joining the Fellows Network annually. Since 2007, CYJ has held over 65 Certificate Programs and welcomed over 2,000 individuals into the Fellows Network. This includes Certificate Programs we host in Washington, DC., in the field across the United States, and online. Each Certificate Program project requires a dedicated, time consuming process including initial creation, development of relevant training topics and curriculum elements, direct engagement and work with instructors to create materials and presentations, vetting and acceptance of each class of participants, registration and setup for each individual with the University, implementation and execution of each actual weeklong training program, and feedback and support as teams develop and implement local Capstone Project reform efforts in their own jurisdictions. The Project Coordinator is essential to all of these functions, and serves as a support system to the Deputy Director for Certificate Programs to achieve success in each project.

Every year there is an increased demand for both existing Certificate Programs and newly developed trainings to meet the needs of our diverse stakeholders across the country. This position will support CYJ to continue to operate and expand upon its Certificate Program offerings, and in doing so fulfill its mission to help jurisdictions around the country shape policy and practice change that lead to improved life outcomes for this country's children, youth and families.
