Employment Type : Full time Shift : Day Shift Description : POSITION PURPOSE Registered Nurse – Nurse Coordinator, Surgical PCU (2 East) Location : 2 East Surgical Progressive Care Unit Schedule : Full-Time, 40 hours / week Shift : Monday–Friday, 7 : 00 a.m. – 3 : 30 p.m. Status : Benefited Position On-Call / Weekend / Holiday Requirement : None Unit Overview : 2 East is a 32-bed Surgical Step-Down Progressive Care Unit specializing in the care of post-operative patients from Cardio Thoracic, Vascular, and General Surgery services. The unit provides intermediate-level care for patients requiring close monitoring and specialized nursing support. What You Will Do The Nurse Coordinator carries delegated responsibility from the Nurse Manager for overseeing operations, scheduling, and staffing during designated times. This role requires expertise in managing complex patient care within the unit’s scope of practice, while also serving as a resource and informal leader on the unit. The Nurse Coordinator models effective communication and conflict resolution skills, exemplifying the principles of Relationship Based Care. They guide and manage daily operational matters, understand the unit’s budget and staffing model based on patient volume, contribute to patient care when needed, lead staff through changes and new initiatives, and provide coaching, support, and mentorship to colleagues. Miniumum Qualifications Current Michigan Nursing License Graduation from accredited nursing program : BSN Required Minimum of three years staff experience with one-year related practice experience in clinical area.
