Must-Have :

• Proactive in ensuring patients progress to their prior level of function or maximum medical improvement per Plan of Care.
• Ability to perform appropriate assessments on each patient, including pediatric, adolescent, geriatric, and general patient populations.
• Capability to maintain comprehensive patient records, including progress reports and supervision of Physical Therapist Assistants.

Description :

The staff physical therapist is responsible for the evaluation, consultation, and treatment of patients.

This includes overall utilization, supervision, and instruction of professional and supportive staff, volunteers, and students in the area of physical therapy.

The physical therapist must be proactive in ensuring that patients progress to their prior level of function or maximum medical improvement.

Appropriate assessments are conducted on each patient and reassessments are performed as per policy.

Records pertinent to patient care must be maintained, including progress reports, daily notes, and special reports as requested.

The physical therapist reports directly to the Rehabilitation Department Manager.

Strong communication skills are essential for effective interaction with employees, physicians, visitors, patients, families, and administration.

The ability to adjust to job situations involving various people and projects is required, along with some independent judgment and action.

Flexibility to work in continually changing conditions is necessary.

Manual dexterity to operate equipment and provide hands-on assessment, assistance, and exercise to patients is essential.

The ability to lift and move patients with or without assistance and maneuver equipment weighing 20 pounds or more is required.

Agility is necessary for frequent changes in position.

Visual and hearing acuity are required to receive feedback and information from patients.

Counseling skills for effectively communicating with patients and their families are also necessary.

Treatment is provided in multiple settings, including inpatient and outpatient environments.

This is a full-time position with occasional weekend coverage for evaluations.

Expectations include handling the stress of meeting deadlines, working in a busy environment, managing numerous interruptions, and exposure to emergency situations.
