The position carries considerable responsibility. Engineers are expected to be able to handle all aspects of a program, including customer contact with sales and program management, M&P problem solving, estimating, part fabrication (incl. development and transition to production), through shipment of the product. All activities are to be in accordance with CHI policies and Procedures and the CHI quality manual.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned) :

Engineers are responsible for the following :

  • Composite fabrication - Must be proficient in all aspects of composites part manufacturing including prepreg handling, ply definition, lay-up, curing, machining and assembly, plus identification of safety considerations where appropriate.
  • RCCA-Proficient in root cause and corrective action analysis including dispositioning of MRB tickets.
  • Tooling- Must have good working knowledge of composite tooling including but not limited to, autoclave molds, press molds, lay-up aids and machine fixtures.
  • Manufacturing Planning -Versed in production planning, documentation and quality / testing requirements.
  • Program cost control – must have good working knowledge of job costing. Must plan efficient processes including coordination of change activity required to achieve desired GP.
  • Customer communication - good communication skills required, position will interface with customer technical and procurement teams on a regular basis.

Education and / or Experience

Bachelor's degree preferred and / or equivalent engineering experience. Minimum 5 years' experience in Aerospace Composites

Language Skills

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work independently and with teams across a broad spectrum of positions and departments (e.g., quality, production, program management). Must work well with customers.

Other Skills and Abilities

Good analytical, problem solving and organizational skills.

Purpose
