Job Description

Temporary Payroll Specialist in Cedar Rapids, IA to cover an upcoming FMLA leave. Position to start at 8 weeks and could develop into long term employment. We need a highly organized and detail-oriented professional to join our team as soon as possible. This is a crucial role responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while coordinating with various departments. Must have 5 years experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update our timekeeping system and system database.
  • Review and audit payroll reports to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and union contract guidelines.
  • Verify employee schedules, leave accruals, and other payroll items.
  • Prepare and provide payroll information and general ledger entries to the accounting department.
  • Complete requests for Verification of Employment (VOE).
  • Coordinate workflow and collaborate closely with the Human Resources department.
  • Approve, edit, and maintain changes to employee direct deposits, tax withholdings, and payroll deductions.
  • Interact with the IT department to manage system updates and reliability.
  • Provide payroll and attendance information to supervisors as needed.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in payroll administration and processing 3-5 years minimum.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll best practices and compliance regulations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with timekeeping and payroll software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.

    This is a full-time, temporary position on a day shift, working 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 00 PM .

    Physical Demands

    This role is primarily office-based, requiring frequent reading, writing, and sitting. The employee will also need to use hands for typing and handling tools or controls. Specific vision abilities include close vision for computer work and detailed document review.

    Must pass 10 panel drug test and background check.
