We are currently seeking a Network Security Engineer to join our Information Technology team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing core infrastructure systems with a focus on virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) , endpoint protection , and enterprise cybersecurity platforms . You’ll help ensure NMC Health’s technology environment remains secure, stable, and aligned with our mission of delivering exceptional patient care.
As a Network Security Engineer, you’ll collaborate closely with peers, vendors, and leadership to recommend solutions, lead projects, and respond to system-level issues. This position reports to the Director of Information Technology and is classified as salaried, exempt .
This position is in person. Candidate must be living in the area or moving to the area prior to the start date.
Key responsibilities include :
Administering and maintaining enterprise systems, including KnowBe4, Mimecast, and iBoss
Overseeing implementation and management of JAMF, Meraki MDM, Stratusphere, and DHS CISA vulnerability reviews
Supporting enterprise multi-factor authentication (DUO), firewall systems (Cisco Meraki / Firepower), and virtual desktop infrastructure (VMware Horizon)
Participating in system monitoring, patching, and maintenance across infrastructure platforms
Evaluating emerging technologies and recommending solutions based on fit, cost, and functionality
Conducting technical assessments for cybersecurity initiatives such as SOC / MDR and sandboxing
Coordinating with vendors and consultants for implementation, troubleshooting, and long-term planning
Assisting in developing and enforcing IT security policies and operational standards
Collaborating with IT team members on shared responsibilities, including Orion (network monitoring), SIEM platforms, Syslog, Teradici (VDI support), WSUS patch validation, and business impact analysis (BIA)
Preparing and maintaining technical documentation and best practices
Responding to escalated incidents related to endpoint protection, desktop infrastructure, and enterprise tools
Staying informed on cybersecurity, endpoint management, and infrastructure monitoring trends
QUALIFICATIONS
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred
Equivalent experience will be considered
Experience :
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, or cybersecurity engineering
Experience supporting virtual desktop environments, managing endpoint protection tools, or evaluating cybersecurity platforms strongly preferred
Knowledge & Skills :
Demonstrated ability to manage complex technical projects while balancing daily support responsibilities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams and with vendors
Effective troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills
Self-directed with strong time management and proactive problem-solving abilities
Proficiency in administering and troubleshooting Windows desktop and server operating systems
Working knowledge of Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI); VMware Horizon experience preferred
Familiarity with endpoint and server protection platforms (e.g., Cisco AMP, Umbrella)
Understanding of secure web / email gateways (e.g., iBoss, Mimecast)
Basic understanding of networking principles, including segmentation, DNS, and firewall rules
Experience evaluating cybersecurity solutions and advising leadership on technical options
Scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, etc.) preferred but not required
Licensure, Registration or Certification :
No certifications required
Certifications such as Security+ , CySA+ , Cisco CCNA , VMware VCP , or Microsoft certifications are considered a plus
Relevant certifications may be considered in lieu of formal education
