Overview
IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (SYSADMIN) with Security Clearance – GS-2210-11. Duties include installation and configuration of classified hardware and software on personal computers and assigned systems, development of backup and recovery strategies, systems administration to meet customer needs, and management of classified systems across LAN interfaces.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical expert and focal point for installation and configuration of classified hardware and software on personal computers and associated systems. Develop, modify, and test overall classified system backup and recovery strategies for assigned systems. Plan, coordinate, modify, implement, and troubleshoot to meet customer needs for all classified systems, including a variety of hardware platforms, software applications, and interfaces in the Local Area Network (LAN).
- Serve as a technical expert on multiple classified operating systems and computer platforms. Determine equipment and communications requirements and interface with other systems. Evaluate machine usage and develop plans to support future automation (hardware and software) requirements. Develop guidelines, SOPs, bulletins, and flyers for operation / use of assigned C4 systems, services, and activities. Analyze policies, regulations, and system provisions governing standard operating systems. Advise users on policies, regulations, and system provisions.
- Analyze, evaluate, and recommend hardware / software changes to classified computer systems considering compatibility, costs, and impact on existing equipment. Install, configure, and test reviewed products and equipment.
- Implement system software changes, manage operating system releases, and maintain operational status. Coordinate with system developers to resolve hardware and / or software malfunctions. Perform security management in accordance with applicable DoD, DAF, National Guard Bureau (NGB) and Air National Guard (ANG) IA regulations and policies. Review and implement local policies regarding system access, network rights, and physical access to systems and equipment.
- Implement DAF and ANG policies relating to storage requirements. Analyze system operations to identify inefficiencies and take action to ensure optimal performance and consistency. Install and configure classified workstation or network operating systems and applications software across diverse devices and interfaces. Enforce hardware and software configuration standards and configure workstation security parameters. Troubleshoot and resolve software problems, including conflicts between applications, hardware, devices, and operating systems. Detect and remediate computer viruses and restore critical data files. Update architecture databases to reflect installations, turn-ins, and changes in reportable software. Provide input to the ANG COOP procedures for system disaster recovery, including reestablishment of systems at multiple sites and locations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Ohio Air National Guard Membership is required. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. May be required to complete a trial period. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Compatible military grade and assignment required within one year of placement. This is an excepted service position requiring membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard. If not currently a member of the Ohio Air National Guard, eligibility for immediate membership is required. General experience : Use OPM IORs (Alternative A) for data processing knowledge and general management principles that enable understanding of work automation. Such experience may come from computer operator, program analyst, or similar roles.Specialized experience : At least 1 year at the next lower grade, involving planning, coordination with others outside the unit, developing project controls, adapting guidelines to needs, and documenting cost / benefit analyses.
