About this Position

GENERAL SUMMARY :

The Catering Associate is responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient catering service during events and functions. Their duties involve a wide range of tasks, from preparing and setting up for events to assisting in the Student Union cafeteria to provide meals to students, employees and the public; and providing catering services for on and off campus functions.

Required Qualifications

  • High School / GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • Evidence of a history of demonstrating ethical and professional behavior.
  • Previous experience working in the food industry.
  • Previous customer service experience.

Certifications, Registrations, and / or Licenses :

  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license is required if driving a personal or university vehicle for university business.
  • Must maintain a Food Handler’s permit.

    • Skills, Proficiencies, and / or Knowledge :

    Skills and Abilities :

  • Ability to interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner while addressing concerns effectively.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper setup and breakdown of events.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and adherence to food safety regulations, including proper handling, storage, and temperature control of food.
  • The ability to read and comprehend both written and verbal instructions.
  • Must be customer-service oriented.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to multi-task and assist in any area necessary.
  • Ability to resolve problems.

    • Communication Skills :

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, co-workers and other campus personnel.
  • Ability to communicate with a positive attitude.
  • Excellent listening skills and customer responsiveness are essential.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively recognize and resolve conflict.
