MMR Electrical Designer Position Summary An Electrical Designer is needed to support the design of industrial and utility power distribution systems.

The role focuses on applying NEC code and industry standards to develop electrical designs & drawings using drawing software.

Responsibilities Design power distribution systems including power cables, cable tray, raceways, panelboards, switchgear, switchboards, and other electrical equipment as found in substations or PDCs.

Prepare dimensioned physical design drawings :

  • plan views, sections, elevations, routing layouts, and details.
  • Develop substation layouts including general arrangements, grounding plans, conduit plans, and equipment elevations.
  • Coordinate with engineers and project managers to develop project deliverables in an order that maintains project schedule.
  • Provide construction teams with clear documentation and revisions.
  • Produce accurate drawing sets using AutoCAD.
  • Ability to attend site walkdowns & take field measurements.
  • Ability to provide construction support in either field or remotely.
  • Travel estimated less than 10%.
  • Qualifications Experience with power distribution systems up to 34.5kV.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial and / or utility electrical design.
  • Not required if AutoCAD and electrical classes have been taken.
  • Knowledge of grounding, lightning protection, and cable / conduit routing.
  • Experience with large industrial facilities such as manufacturing, utilities, or oil & gas.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC and substation design standards.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD products.
  • Ability to generate accurate, constructible designs for industrial facilities and substations.
  • Ability to work independently after meeting on project priorities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of both industrial power systems and utility power systems.
  • Experience with power distribution systems up to 230kV.
  • Familiarity with 3D design tools such as Plant 3D or Revit.
  • Education- trade school, Basic AutoCAD training.
