Job Title : External Credit Coordinator

Position Summary :
The External Credit Coordinator is a member of the Transfer Credit Evaluation team in the Registrar's Office and has responsibility for all types of external credit programs including CAEL, Prior Learning Assessment, Work-Life credit, military credit, credit by examination, proficiency and placement credit, and ACE programs. This includes the analyzing, organizing, evaluating, and processing external credit programs and transfer credit; seeking opportunities to grow external credit programs; helping establish external credit policies and procedures; making decisions related to complex equivalencies; posting of credit; providing complex advice and assistance to students, faculty, and administrative personnel regarding applicability of transfer work to various degree programs, general education, and other academic policies.
Responsibilities
Serve as a contact person and resource for University policy and external credit related questions. Develop policies and procedures for all types of external credit. Maintain a current and accurate knowledge of program offerings, policies and procedures. Provide information and advice to students, admissions counselors, advisors, and faculty regarding course equivalents, alternatives, and options available in qualifying for various degree programs or in determining other academic options. Monitor each stage of the external credit process and follow up with departments / faculty for timely responses and decisions.
Perform course-by-course external credit evaluations by determining credit to be granted toward meeting specific requirements, determine equivalency of courses taken at other colleges and institutions : coordinate, obtain and verify information as appropriate; use analytical skills to research, and articulate courses using university guidelines. Check for course repetitions and courses taken out of sequence through research from catalogs, Transfer Evaluation System (TES), or correspondence with other institutions. Verify external credit programs' rigor and impact on accreditation and verify accreditation of other institutions from which credits were earned. Determine level, content, unit value, unit conversions, transferability, grading system, and / or military credit of external credit courses.
Posting of all types of external credit. This includes traditional and non-traditional transfer credit, partnership programs, international partnership programs, work-life credit, AP, Dual Credit, Graduate Credit, military, study abroad, etc. Determine appropriate external credit type to rectify duplication of credit issues.
Process and evaluate both paper and electronic score reports such as AP for admitted and current students; including freshmen and transfer populations. Process and evaluate IB and CLEP external credit. Process and distribute Petition for External Credit forms. Provide support for external credit and partnership programs.
Serve as liaison with other institutions and Benedictine faculty in order to review external partnership and transfer agreements. Review for community college degree pathways, course articulations, appropriate transfer credit within curricular programs and work to create degree completion pathways for transfer students.
Monitor IAI GECC and Major course approvals including submission of courses called for review by AH or submission of new courses for IAI approval.
Complete individualized course list reports and / or checklists for prospective, admitted, and matriculated graduate or undergraduate students including : CAEL, PLA, Work-Life credit, Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, Dual Credit, and College-Level Examination Program credit, and transfer courses.
Seek opportunities to automate processing of external credit. Assist with building transfer course equivalencies into PeopleSoft or system including Transfer Evaluation System (TES).

Education : Bachelor's Degree Required
Experience : Two years of experience in a University setting with at least one year in Registrar's, Advising, or Admissions setting preferred.
Specific Skills : Prior experience with articulation or evaluation experience will be strongly preferred. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and PeopleSoft. Follows all regulations dealing with privacy and student confidentiality, adheres to departmental and University policies and procedures, follows catalog requirements, and commits to evaluation accuracy.
