Senior Quality Engineer (Automotive Manufacturing)

Position Summary : The Senior Quality Engineer will lead quality assurance initiatives within an automotive manufacturing environment, ensuring compliance with IATF 16949 standards and customer-specific requirements. This role involves driving continuous improvement, implementing robust quality systems, and applying Six Sigma methodologies to reduce defects and enhance process capability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and customer-specific quality standards.
  • Lead APQP, PPAP, and FMEA activities for new product launches and engineering changes.
  • Manage control plans, process capability studies (Cp, Cpk), and measurement system analysis (MSA).
  • Investigate and resolve internal and external quality issues using root cause analysis and 8D methodology.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma tools to reduce scrap, rework, and warranty claims.
  • Support supplier quality management, including audits, corrective actions, and performance monitoring.
  • Prepare and present quality metrics and reports to management and customers.
  • Train and mentor junior engineers and production teams on quality tools and standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing preferred).
  • 5+ years of quality engineering experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher certification preferred.
  • Proficient in problem-solving tools (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone).
  • Experience with GD&T, statistical analysis, and quality software (e.g., Minitab).
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with customer-specific requirements (OEM / Tier 1).
  • Knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.
  • Experience with auditing (internal and supplier).
