Crime Information Specialist

The City of Plano is seeking a Crime Information Specialist to join the Police Department's Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC). This entry-level role is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of City of Plano criminal justice data across multiple internal platforms as well as federal, state, and local criminal information systems.

Responsibilities include :

• Monitoring police radio broadcasts, emergency calls, alerts, video camera streams, and other real-time information sources.
• Assisting with the detection, recognition, and response to public safety incidents.
• Extracting and compiling data from multiple systems to provide timely intelligence.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of TCIC / NCIC purpose and function, computer-based operating systems and database management, and research methods and processes. Skills in typing, effective oral and written communication, and the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with internal and external customers are also required.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED equivalent, one year of experience working in a law enforcement agency or two years of previous administrative or clerical experience. A Bachelor's degree in criminal justice administration, law enforcement, public or business administration, sociology, or a related field is preferred.
