Provides direct nursing care to patients, assumes teaching and leadership responsibilities. Participates in shared decision making, unit committee and quality improvement activities. Needs minimal supervision.\n\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\n\n– Other duties may be assigned.\n\nDevelop plans that include strategies to attain expected outcomes.\n\nImplements the plan of care interventions and medical plan of care as appropriate.\n\nCoordinates care delivery.\n\nEmploy patient teaching to promote health and safety.\n\nEvaluates progress toward outcomes.\n\nPractices ethically.\n\nAttains knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice.\n\nIntegrates evidence and research finding into practice.\n\nContributes to quality nursing practice and shared decision making (SDM) by supporting council decisions, implementation of decisions and active participation in SDM.\n\nCommunicates effectively in all areas of practice.\n\nDemonstrates leadership in the professional practice setting.\n\nCollaborate with patients, family, the inter-professional team, and others in the conduct of nursing practice.\n\nUtilizes appropriate resources to plan and provide nursing services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible.\n\nPractices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner.\n\nAccountable to foster, participate and be knowledgeable with the shared decision-making model of NCH Healthcare System.\n\nCompletes Adult ICU Systems Assessment and integrates findings with other aspects of EMR, i.e., testing results, clinical documentation, etc. to support patient safety and best outcomes.\n\nDemonstrates competency with monitoring skills : \n\no Cardiac rhythm interpretation.\n\no Pulse oximetry.\n\no Invasive and non-invasive monitoring waveform interpretation.\n\no Hemodynamic measurement and interpretation.\n\nKnowledgeable in indications of critical care specific medications / infusions and safely administers, titrates and monitors effectiveness.\n\nDemonstrates safe use, knowledge and troubleshooting of equipment specific to critical care environment.\n\nMaintains critical care specific competencies (annually).\n\nParticipate in multi-disciplinary rounds (MDRs).\n\nEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS\n\nCandidates with CVICU experience that will not be entering fellowship program : \n\nMinimum of 18 months of experience in CVICU / Care of immediate post op open hearts\n\nLicensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.\n\nBSN strongly preferred\n\nBasic Life Support (BLS Provider) certification required from American Heart Association or American Red Cross\n\nAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required from American Heart Association or Advanced Life Support (ALS) from American Red Cross.\n\nBasic computer knowledge : ability to operate a PC, create / save / print documents, input data\n\nCandidates WITHOUT CVICU experience and New Graduates RN that will complete fellowship program : \n\nMust have experience in management of telemetry or critical care patients considered for program.\n\nBSN preferred.\n\nLicensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Florida.\n\nBasic Life Support (BLS Provider) certification required from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.\n\nWill obtain ACLS certification through Advanced Life Support Training during the program.\n\nRequired to sign a Fellowship agreement which includes a 2-year employment commitment to remain in Critical Care in a full-time position after completion of training.\n\nIntermediate computer knowledge : Uses Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows.
