Core Faculty - Internal Medicine Residency Program

Reports To : Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency

Location : HonorHealth Internal Medicine Residency / Arizona State University School of Medicine and Advanced Medical Engineering

Position Type : Full-Time, Faculty Appointment

Position Summary :

HonorHealth, in partnership with Arizona State Universitys School of Medicine and Advanced Medical Engineering, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Internal Medicine physician to join our residency program as a Core Faculty Member to engage in outpatient clinical care, as well as resident and student teaching opportunities. This role is ideal for a clinician-educator committed to mentoring residents, advancing ambulatory education, and contributing to a collaborative academic environment that values innovation, wellness, and lifelong learning.

Key Responsibilities :

Educational Leadership

  • Serve as a core faculty member with a significant role in the education and supervision of internal medicine residents.
  • Provide direct clinical teaching in the outpatient clinic and participate in didactic sessions, case-based learning, and scholarly activities.
  • Mentor residents in clinical reasoning, communication, and professional development.
  • Participate in residency committees such as the Clinical Competency Committee and Program Evaluation Committee.

Curriculum & Program Support

  • Contribute to the development and refinement of the ambulatory curriculum in alignment with ACGME requirements.
  • Support individualized learning plans and remediation strategies for residents.
  • Assist in recruitment, selection, and evaluation of residents.
  • Engage in quality improvement and population health activities.
  • Clinical Practice

  • Maintain an active outpatient internal medicine practice, where clinical time is split between your own panel of patients, and precepting residents / students.
  • Serve as a role model for residents in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
  • Utilize EPIC EHR and Tiger Text for streamlined communication and documentation.
  • Scholarly Activity & Innovation

  • Engage in scholarly activities including quality improvement, curriculum development, and dissemination of educational innovations.
  • Support resident scholarly work and participate in faculty development initiatives.
  • Qualifications :

  • MD, DO, or MBBS degree with board certification in Internal Medicine (ABIM).
  • Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in Arizona.
  • Strong clinical and teaching skills in ambulatory internal medicine.
  • Preferred : At least 2 years of experience in outpatient clinical practice or academic medicine, or completion of a chief residency or Faculty Development Fellowship.
