Position Overview :
Bear Construction, LLC is looking for a full-time Utility Superintendent to join our leadership team. This position will oversee multiple utility crews performing underground installations and site infrastructure work, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and production goals. The role requires excellent leadership, communication, and problem solving skills to direct field operations, coordinate with management and clients, and ensure projects are completed on schedule and within specifications.

Duties & Responsibilities :
Directly supervises multiple utility crews performing water, sewer, storm and electric installationsReports progress, manpower, and production to the Project Manager and Operations leadershipReads, understands, and interprets drawings, profiles, and specificationsPlans and coordinates daily activities to meet production and schedule goalsEnsures safety orientations and compliance with all company and OSHA standardsTakes initiative to coach foremen and operators on best practices, equipment operation, and production techniquesObserves assigned equipment to detect machinery malfunctions and ensures proper maintenanceCoordinates field and subcontractor personnel to maintain efficient workflowCommunicates effectively with inspectors, engineers, and clients to resolve field conflictsMaintains accurate records of quantities, equipment hours, and crew performanceUpholds site cleanliness, organization, and preparation for inclement weatherConducts daily and weekly safety meetings and documents corrective actionsReviews completed work with company leadership to ensure quality and performance standards are metAnticipate potential issues in the field and act quickly to prevent rework, downtime, or safety risks.Maintain a forward-looking approach to production planningalways one step ahead of the crew, the schedule, and the weather.Requirements / Qualifications :
High School Diploma or GED5+ years of experience in a management role in utility construction.Excellent understanding of underground utility systems, including water, sewer, and storm drainageSkilled in reading civil and utility plans, profiles, and construction drawingsAdvanced knowledge of excavation, trench safety, and pipe installation best practicesUnderstanding of soil conditions, compaction, and backfill requirementsFamiliarity with GPS, laser, and grade control systemsWorking knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and proceduresExcellent ability to lead crews, coordinate multiple operations, and meet deadlinesEffective communication and leadership skills for working with teams, clients, and inspectorsA valid drivers licenseHigh standards of honesty, integrity, and commitment to producing a quality work productStrong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skillsBenefits :
