Job Title : Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Location : Salem, OR 97301
Duration : 1 year to long term
Schedule : Standard Shift (8am -5pm)
Key Responsibilities :
- Responsible for assessing, diagnosing, treating, and managing the health problems of clients, particularly those with mental health and emotional issues . This includes developing intervention plans, managing acute and chronic illnesses, and performing medical and diagnostic procedures within their scope of practice.
- Client Assessment and Management : NPs would assess clients, gather their medical history, and conduct physical examinations. They would develop diagnoses, manage acute and chronic conditions, and coordinate care with other healthcare providers.
- Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures : NPs would order and interpret diagnostic tests, perform medical and diagnostic procedures as needed, and prescribe, dispense, and administer therapeutic medications.
- Mental Health Focus : In the context of OSH, the focus would be on clients with mental health and emotional disorders, including those with forensic backgrounds.
- Psychiatric Medications : NPs would be authorized to prescribe, dispense, and administer psychotropic medications, including legend drugs and controlled substances, within the scope of their practice .
- Teamwork and Collaboration : NPs would collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, other nurses, and mental health therapists, to provide comprehensive care.
- Teaching and Mentoring : NPs may be involved in teaching and mentoring other healthcare professionals, including students and staff, in the principles of advanced practice nursing.
- Referrals and Coordination : NPs would refer clients to other health care providers and coordinate their care, ensuring continuity and integration of services.
Knowledge and Skills :
Knowledge of the information and techniques needed to diagnose and treat human injuries, diseases, and deformities. This includes symptoms, treatment alternatives, drug properties and interactions, and preventive health-care measures.Knowledge of medical and nursing principles and practices.Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology, microbiology, pathology, nutrition, and pharmacology.Knowledge of human behavior and growth.Knowledge of isolation techniques used in working with patients with infectious or communicable diseases.Knowledge of community resources for patient referral.Skill in therapeutic treatments, use of examination instruments, and administration of medication.Skill in patient assessment, including laboratory tests and other diagnostic procedures, analysis of data, and problem identification.Skill to develop and modify treatment plans, including further diagnostic studies, therapy, patient education, and identification of parameters for follow-up.Skill in critical thinking, using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.Skill working with patients who may be aggressive, abusive, or combative.Skill in communicating orally and in writing with a variety of individuals ranging from health care professionals to laypersons.Required Documents :
