Responsibilities Work in an acute care hospital setting within the Med / Surg Ortho unit 22-bed unit with an average census of 6 patients Common patient population includes post-surgical cases such as hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, and spine procedures Nurse to patient ratio is typically 1 : 5-6 Assignment requires 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and rotating holidays Epic EMR is used for charting Tele boxes are used; tele techs handle strip interpretation Float to Med / Surg, rehab, or PCU with similar acuity as required Primary responsibilities include care for post-operative orthopedic and surgical patients Support staff includes nurse aides / patient care techs with a 1 : 13 ratio Unit emphasizes teamwork, flexibility, and a willingness to learn Orientation consists of one department-specific day and a 12-hour general orientation Blocked scheduling is generally not permitted except on weekends All staff must comply with the policy prohibiting artificial nails in direct patient care areas Requests for time off must be made up front and are limited to seven or fewer days per contract Dress code requires compliance with hospital and unit policies Requirements Active NE or compact RN license required at the time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted Current BLS certification is required Minimum of two years recent acute care Med / Surg experience Must submit a copy of a valid driver’s license for address verification Radius requirement : must live at least 50 miles from the facility based on driver’s license Cannot have been employed full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility within the past year Must pass a skills exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90% Two references required : one from a supervisor within the last 12 months, and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-617369.
