Job Title : Facility Technician
Department : Parks and Planning
Reports to : Facility Maintenance Manager
Job Class : Full Time, Non-Exempt, IMRF Eligible
Work Hours : Tuesday – Saturday (40 hours per week). Onboarding period will be Monday – Friday.
Compensation : $20.00-21.00 an hour
Position Summary
Under the direction and supervision of the Facility Maintenance Manager, the Facility Technician is responsible for performing and / or overseeing contractors to complete preventative maintenance and repairs of all electrical, plumbing, pool / splash pad, mechanical trades, HVAC, etc. This position typically works independently with minimal supervision and may supervise others during projects. This is an essential position and is subject to extended workdays on short notice and overtime to address emergencies and repairs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing environmental systems (such as), HVAC, furnace, boiler units, AC and other facility environmental controls.
- Responsible for, but not limited, managing the safety and cleanliness of equipment, property from wear, damage, vandalism, etc.
- Document man-hours and materials used on work orders to specific job requirements.
- Maintain a proactive approach to safety and risk management
- Conduct monthly facility safety reports and respond to areas as needed
- Responsible for maintaining and repairing all aspects of park buildings and facilities, which include, but are not limited to carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry and painting.
- Snow removal with but not limited to shovel snow blower plow and or broom
- Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Addison Park District's safety program.
- Provide administrative duties in the development of goals and objectives, preparing and maintain reports that pertain to the department, coordinating the use of facilities and services with other district departments, and assist in development a long-term capital development plan.
Secondary Duties & Responsibilities
Responsible for monitoring various contracts to ensure compliance with contract specifications.Responsible for performing a full range of mechanical work including but not limited to the trouble shooting of equipment for both major and minor repairs.Must be able to attend professional conferences, workshops and seminars pertaining to employees' position, as needed, for new ideas, development and techniques.Must be available for other duties as assigned and / or needed.May be required to work special events, snow events on nights and / or weekends.Required Qualifications
Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.Must have an associate degree in the related field (Facility management, Construction, Administration, Park Maintenance or related field) or experience will be considered in lieu of education.Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience in related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Must have a valid Driver's License, be able to successfully pass a driver's abstract review, and be approved to drive a company vehicle.Able to obtain CPO within 90 days of hiring.Complete knowledge of methods, material, equipment and tools of mechanical, electrical repairs and safety requirementsComprehensive knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems.Demonstrated ability to perform complicated field and shop repairs on HVAC, plumbing, pool / splash pad, mechanical and electrical equipment.Intermediate knowledge of computer systems including Microsoft Office Suite.Competencies
Ability to follow directions and communicate in English both verbally and in writing.Ability to read and understand materials, such as complex service manuals, maintenance and operators' manuals printed in English.Ability to make decisions, objectively based on customer service and fiscal constraint.Ability to work independently in day-to-day operations with general directions of the Building & Facility Foreman.Ability to work in a team atmosphere, while promoting the Park District's mission statement, vision and core values.Ability to maintain self-control and composure in difficult situations.Ability to recognize priorities and meet deadlines.Ability to receive constructive criticism and / or supervision.Ability to be flexible and adaptable to new situations.Possess enthusiasm and drive with a desire to accomplish goals and objectives.Working Conditions / Physical Requirements
Position may be required to work both inside and outside during various environmental conditions, such as, but not limited to rain and mud, snow and slippery surfaces, hot and cold temperatures, exposure to dust, fumes, dirt, and noise.Position must operate and handle assigned maintenance equipment, tools, and vehicles.Must have the physical agility to maintain mobility from site to site and be able to perform moderate manual tasks (a thorough pre-employment physical examination will be required after conditional job offer.)May perform duties which include, but are not limited to prolonged lifting, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, and climbing for extended periods of time.May perform various tasks in confined spaces and / or rooftops.Job Posted by ApplicantPro
