At Nebraska Public Media, we enrich lives and engage minds by connecting communities and celebrating Nebraska with trusted news, storytelling, and educational resources. As the home for PBS and NPR in the state, we provide comprehensive coverage of news, sports, education, and culture.

We’re now looking for a Managing Editor to help lead one of Nebraska’s largest newsrooms who will guide a team of talented journalists and interns as they produce compelling stories for radio, digital, and podcast platforms. Working closely with the News Director, this role is central to shaping daily coverage, editing stories and scripts, training reporters, and collaborating with NPR and other partners to elevate Nebraska’s stories to regional and national audiences. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the community while helping tell the stories that matter most.

This position is a full-time, in-office position based out of Lincoln, Nebraska.

Responsibilities

• Lead one of Nebraska’s largest newsrooms, guiding a team of journalists and interns as they produce stories for radio, digital, and podcast platforms.
• Shape daily coverage and edit stories and scripts in collaboration with the News Director.
• Train reporters and student workers; mentor staff and interns in reporting, editing, and newsroom best practices.
• Collaborate with NPR and other partners to elevate Nebraska’s stories to regional and national audiences.
• Help manage newsroom workflow and contribute to strategic planning for coverage.
