The Technical Support Specialist I is an entry level position whose primary functions are to assist the Technical Support Services (TSS) Team with end user service and support (Help Desk), data integrity and application implementation, testing and support. A general understanding of computer hardware / software and smart device applications, troubleshooting and problem solving, customer support and data integrity and analytics is required. This position will require a hybrid office presence with some flexibility for remote work as needed.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Executes technical service request for application and web tools.
  • Participates in supporting all WVU Foundation solutions, applications, websites, etc.
  • Interacts with 3rd party vendors' help desk and support infrastructure.
  • Participate in testing, training, documentation and implementation of new solutions.
  • Participate in the creation and maintenance of user accounts for access to WVUF systems.
  • Responds to application system problems and makes necessary corrections / modifications or engages appropriate staff for a resolution.
  • Collaborate with other technicians in the collection, maintenance, integrity, and interpretation of data.
  • Improves personal and professional technical knowledge and expertise.
  • Work closely with the Technology & Advancement Solutions (T&AS) department to ensure that T&AS' and the Foundation's goals are achieved.

    Education And / or Experience

    Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems or related field; one or more years of experience.

  • Effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations to customers, clients, and colleagues.
  • Listen to customers, clients, and colleagues to offer solutions or collaborate within the TSS Team to provide solutions.
  • Technical Skills

  • Use and provide end user support for solutions.
  • Be the primary technical facilitator for applications and web tools.
  • Troubleshoot applications and working with software vendors for resolution.
  • Translate technical concepts to end users.
  • Comprehend the core constituent data system.
  • Support account management.
