Position Summary

The Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) at our client’s clinic provides strategic leadership and clinical oversight across all service lines, including Medical, Dental, and Behavioral Health. As both a practicing provider and senior executive, the CCO ensures the delivery of high-quality, integrated care while promoting organizational excellence through the Access, Stewardship, and Quality (ASQ) framework.

  • Access : Improves access to care through effective clinical program development, team-based care models, and collaborative leadership with the COO to ensure patients receive timely, coordinated services across all clinical departments.
  • Stewardship : Promotes efficient and responsible use of clinical and operational resources by co-leading staffing models, performance benchmarks, and integrated care processes. Works in partnership with the COO to align clinical strategy with operational execution across the organization.
  • Quality : Leads the implementation of a system-wide quality improvement strategy, encompassing performance on Uniform Data System (UDS) measures, compliance with HRSA and Joint Commission standards, and continuous practice transformation—champions data-driven clinical excellence and patient-centered care.

  • Essential Functions :

    Clinical Leadership & Oversight

  • Provide clinical oversight of all service lines, ensuring coordination and integration of care delivery across departments.
  • Maintain a limited patient panel, modeling evidence-based practice and team-based care.
  • Supervise and support Medical, Dental, and Behavioral Health Directors.
  • Oversee credentialing, privileging, and onboarding of clinical staff.
  • Serve as a key clinical liaison with community partners, hospitals, and agencies.
  • Quality Improvement & ASQ Stewardship

  • Lead quality improvement efforts, including UDS performance, risk mitigation, and peer review programs.
  • Guide the implementation of ASQ strategies and provide regular reports on outcomes and benchmarks.
  • Oversee compliance with federal, state, and accreditation requirements (e.g., HRSA, Joint Commission, OSHA).
  • Promote the use of data analytics to inform continuous improvement and population health efforts.
  • Operational Integration (Dyad with COO)

  • Co-lead operational and strategic planning initiatives that affect clinical services.
  • Partner on clinical workflow design, care team optimization, and patient experience enhancements.
  • Align staffing models, productivity metrics, and resource allocation with organizational goals.
  • Support innovation projects, including technology integration, telehealth, and care coordination enhancements.
  • Administrative & Strategic Leadership

  • Serve on the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to long-term planning and fiscal stewardship.
  • Collaborate with Finance and HR on provider compensation models, recruitment, and retention strategies.
  • Participate in grants strategy, assisting with clinical deliverables, evaluation, and reporting.
  • Represent clinic in external partnerships, advocacy, and healthcare collaboratives.
  • Other Duties

  • Participate in emergency response planning and organizational preparedness.
  • Attend board, committee, and community meetings as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Additional Requirements :

  • Qualifications :

  • Education / Experience :

    Must-Haves to Be Successful :

  • MD or DO with an active, unrestricted Colorado license
  • Board-certified in a primary care specialty
  • DEA licensure and CPR certification
  • Minimum 7 years of clinical experience in a primary care or integrated setting
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership or administrative experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, drive quality, and manage change
  • Experience with EHR systems (preferably OCHIN EPIC), quality metrics, and performance reporting
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
  • Nice to Have :

  • FQHC experience or understanding of HRSA compliance
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams, including dental and behavioral health
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Familiarity with practice transformation models (PCMH, value-based care, etc.)
