Overview

Insight Global is seeking a Process Control Engineer for a client in the Chattanooga, TN area. The PCE will support and improve control systems across multiple production facilities, collaborating daily with operations, maintenance, engineering, and external contractors to ensure safe and efficient plant performance. The PCE will become the subject matter expert for all control infrastructure and serve as the primary resource for troubleshooting and guidance on control-related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate safety protocols, especially Lockout Tagout procedures, to ensure process changes do not introduce new risks.
  • Oversee maintenance and repairs of control systems; manage spare parts inventory.
  • Collaborate with IT to maintain stable communications between production equipment and facility infrastructure.
  • Lead small controls projects and support larger construction efforts with programming, system design, and engineering input.
  • Provide critical production support, including remote troubleshooting during off-hours and developing a long-term infrastructure integrity plan.
  • Assess feasibility of process changes and either execute them directly or manage external resources to do so.
  • Mentor interns, co-ops, and new engineers as the company grows.
  • Maintain a fully onsite presence at the company's production facility.

Qualifications

Must Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or a related technology field.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in process control or related engineering work.
  • At least 5 years working in a 24 / 7 manufacturing environment.
  • Plusses

  • Experience with PLC / DCS platforms (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens, Unitronics).
  • Familiarity with SCADA / MES systems (Ignition, TrakSys).
  • Proficient in Python, C#, MSSQL, and scripting.
  • Proficient in reading and creating P&ID diagrams.
  • Background in bulk processing or thermal systems (e.g., kilns, furnaces).
  • Experience upgrading or migrating control systems.
  • Compensation

    $90,000-$105,000 per year

    Base pay range is provided by the client. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and education.

    Additional Information

    Must be onsite at the production facility.
