About the Role
An established global enterprise is looking for an experienced Senior IT Analyst to support and enhance its enterprise-wide Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI). This role will focus on managing, optimizing, and automating both Azure-based virtual environments and VMware Horizon deployments while collaborating with infrastructure and security teams to ensure smooth, secure, and efficient operations.
This is a hybrid position based in Phoenix, Arizona, reporting directly to senior IT leadership. Candidates should expect to work fully onsite for the first 90 days before transitioning to a hybrid schedule.
Key Responsibilities
Cloud-Based Virtual Desktop (AVD)
- Design, deploy, and maintain scalable Azure Virtual Desktop environments.
- Configure user access controls, profiles, and policies, including FSLogix
- Monitor usage, performance, and cost-efficiency across AVD workloads.
- Align cloud-based virtual desktop solutions with organizational security policies.
VMware Horizon
Administer and support the VMware Horizon infrastructure, including UAGs and desktop pools.Address VDI performance issues and support troubleshooting for Windows virtual desktops.Work cross-functionally to ensure systems are secure, stable, and compliant.Automation & Scripting
Build and maintain PowerShell and Python scripts for provisioning, monitoring, and reporting.Use GitHub for version control and collaborative development workflows.Develop dashboards and monitoring tools to track system health and performance metrics.Operational Support
Provide Tier 2 / 3 technical support for VDI-related incidents and escalations.Maintain detailed documentation for system configurations, processes, and issue resolution.Participate in after-hours support rotation and assist in incident response when needed.Ideal Background
Must-Haves
At least 5 years of professional experience in VDI systems administration or end-user computing.Proficiency in Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and VMware Horizon environments.Skilled in scripting languages including PowerShell and PythonExperience using GitHub or similar tools for version control and automation workflows.Working knowledge of Active Directory Group Policies FSLogix , and cloud-based security best practices.Nice-to-Haves
Degree in Computer Science Information Technology , or related technical field.Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Azure Administrator or VMware Certified Professional (VCP)Strong analytical thinking and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work both independently and in a distributed team setting.Eligibility Requirement
