This position works out of our Sturgis, MI location in the Abbott Nutrition division. Our Nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages. Millions of people count on our leading brands – including Similac, PediaSure, Pedialyte, Ensure, and Glucerna – to help them get the nutrients they need to live their healthiest lives.

What You'll Work On

  • Assist in development, planning, and execution of plant-related engineering activities, supporting equipment efficiency throughout the site.
  • Provide engineering support to all aspects of facility infrastructure.
  • Analyze system failures to determine source and cause.
  • Participate in evaluating system conditions and developing long-term obsolescence and sustainability plans.
  • Apply working knowledge of engineering disciplines and independently develop approaches to problem solving that require advanced technical knowledge.
  • Plan and conduct small to medium-sized projects, including detailed project planning / monitoring, budgeting, project reviews, implementation, validation, and release to production.
  • Promote continuous improvement programs utilizing common problem solving tools and methodologies in processes and procedures.
  • Ensure delivery of effective performance management while establishing and sustaining a positive work environment.
  • Coordinate external contractors to perform work in a cost-effective and safe manner.

    • Accountable for meeting compliance standards including FDA, OSHA, and Abbott policies and procedures.

    Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering).

    • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with engineering responsibility in a regulated industry (food, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, cosmetics).
  • Project planning experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in an environment with complex equipment and systems.
  • Knowledge of project planning tools and experience using them.
  • Experience working with and implementing continuous improvement tools & methodologies.
