Summary :

Meet Life Sciences is working with a large pharmaceutical company building a new, highly automated manufacturing site. We are hiring an Associate Director to lead hardware controls engineering efforts. This role combines technical oversight of hardware design with people leadership to support large-scale project delivery in a greenfield environment.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead and manage a growing hardware controls engineering team across multiple delivery areas.
  • Own design strategy and implementation for automation hardware systems, including control panels, instrumentation, and field devices.
  • Oversee interpretation and review of electrical schematics and P&IDs.
  • Ensure alignment between internal teams and external systems integrators for delivery of hardware solutions.
  • Provide technical leadership for equipment FATs, commissioning, and site acceptance activities.
  • Support project execution and technical decision-making across automation and controls scope.
  • Build and develop engineering standards and documentation practices related to hardware and instrumentation.
  • Collaborate with project management, operations, and quality to ensure compliant, scalable designs.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Automation, or Controls Engineering (or related field).
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in hardware controls, instrumentation, or automation engineering.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams through design, delivery, and site startup.
  • Deep experience with automation systems (e.g., Rockwell, DeltaV, Siemens), control panel design, remote I / O, and field devices.
  • Strong understanding of regulated manufacturing (GMP) and system validation principles.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment supporting greenfield or large capital projects.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
