Commercial Lines Producer
Position Overview
Our client seeking a results-driven Commercial Lines Producer to join our insurance agency team. In this role, you will develop and manage a portfolio of commercial insurance clients by identifying prospects, assessing business risks, and designing comprehensive insurance solutions. The ideal candidate combines strong sales abilities with technical insurance knowledge and exceptional relationship-building skills to drive new business growth while providing outstanding service to clients.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development
- Develop and implement effective strategies to identify and target prospective commercial clients
- Conduct outreach activities including networking, cold calling, and leveraging referral sources
- Schedule and conduct face-to-face meetings with business owners and decision-makers
- Present competitive insurance solutions tailored to clients' specific business needs
- Negotiate terms and pricing with clients and insurance carriers
- Meet or exceed established production goals for new business written premium
- Expand the agency's commercial lines footprint within the target market
Client Relationship Management
Build and maintain long-term relationships with commercial clients across various industriesConduct periodic reviews of clients' changing business needs and exposure profilesIdentify cross-selling and account rounding opportunities within existing client baseWork proactively to retain valuable accounts at renewalServe as the primary point of contact for assigned commercial accountsAdvocate for clients during the claims process when neededMaintain high levels of client satisfaction and retentionRisk Assessment & Technical Functions
Analyze clients' business operations to identify and evaluate potential risksGather underwriting information through applications, questionnaires, and site visitsWork with underwriters to position accounts favorably with insurance carriersDesign comprehensive insurance programs that address identified exposuresPresent complex insurance concepts in clear, client-friendly termsStay current on insurance market trends, coverage options, and carrier appetitesCollaborate with agency CSRs to ensure proper policy implementation and serviceMarket Relationships
Develop and maintain productive relationships with underwriters and carrier representativesNegotiate optimal coverage terms, conditions, and pricing for clientsStay informed about carrier appetite changes, new products, and market conditionsLeverage market relationships to place challenging or specialized risksAttend carrier-sponsored events and training sessionsQualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree preferred (Business, Finance, or related field)3+ years of commercial insurance sales experience recommendedProven track record of successful business development and client retentionExperience working with various commercial insurance lines (Property, General Liability, Auto, Workers' Compensation, etc.)Familiarity with different business sectors and their unique insurance needsLicenses & Certifications
Current Property & Casualty license requiredAdditional licenses (Life & Health) beneficialProfessional designations such as CIC, CPCU, or ARM preferred or willingness to pursueTechnical Knowledge
