Salary & Benefits :
We offer a tiered salary structure based on relevant law enforcement or military police experience :
Starting salary : $82,148 (Tier 1)
Maximum lateral salary : $112,700 (Tier 6)
Lateral applicants may receive credit for the following experience :
1 year of credit per year as a certified peace officer with another law enforcement agency
year of credit per year as a non-certified Deputy Sheriff or Military Police Officer

Job Summary :
Deputy Sheriffs in the Detention Division are responsible for protecting the public and providing institutional safety of adult offenders in the Douglas County Jail. Duties include :
Required Equipment :
Deputy Sheriffs are required to supply their own duty handgun and limited personal equipment (undershirts, duty boots, flashlight) prior to being sworn in. Ask for specific equipment requirements before making purchases.

Additional Information :
In the event of an emergency / disaster in or near the County, all County employees are expected to make every effort to be available to assist the County Manager, Elected / Appointed Officials and Department Directors to ensure the continued operation of any and all necessary County functions. This may mean being available to perform additional duties and hours beyond what is normally required. In the event that an exempt employee does work more than 40 hours a week in support of County operations during an emergency, such employee may receive overtime or other appropriate wage compensation in accordance with existing County policies or at the discretion of the County.
