About The Position
Job Title : Surgical Technologist

Hours per Shift : 0630-1500 and / or 0900-1730
Experience :
Minimum of 2 years of operating room experience preferred.
A background in Cesarean sections and orthopedic, general, and vascular surgery preferred.
License :
Meets the standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS).
Maintains a required Surgical Technologist certification.
Certifications :
Surgical Technologist certification required.
Must-Have :
Ability to demonstrate knowledge of specific uses of all equipment and supplies for surgical procedures.
Ability to work well with physicians, coworkers, and students.
Ability to maintain a sterile field and apply aseptic technique.
Extensive dexterity skills needed to handle equipment for surgical procedures.
Description :
Responsible for overall practice under supervision.
Functions as a scrub or assist during surgical procedures.
Assists in delivering patient care in the operating room.
Identifies medications and solutions by name and dosage with registered nurse.
Establishes and maintains a sterile field.
Performs gowning, gloving, and surgical scrubbing according to policy.
Assists with skin preparation and draping of patients.
Prepares and maintains sterile and unsterile supplies.
Demonstrates knowledge, care, maintenance, and storage of special instruments and equipment.
Checks sutures and supplies and assists with the case setup.
Operates sterilizer safely and documents accurately.
Demonstrates organization, efficiency, and speed in setting up a sterile field.
Anticipates needs of the surgeon to expedite procedures.
Identifies emergency situations and responds efficiently.
Adheres to infection control and safety policies.
Develops teamwork and organizational skills.
Performs other duties related to department operations as assigned.
Seeks experience to maintain clinical skills and demonstrate competency.
Shares knowledge and assists with the educational development of team members.
Maintains awareness of patients' physical, psychological, and spiritual needs.
Delivers care with sensitivity to patient diversity.
Provides a safe and supportive environment for surgical patients.
Completes appropriate form for unusual occurrences.
Assists with preparations for morning surgeries and equipment checks.
Operates necessary equipment as required.
