Job description :
The Quality Assurance & Production Support Technician is integral to maintaining the highest level of product quality across all powder-coated components. This role is responsible for the meticulous inspection of finished goods to ensure adherence to both internal and customer specifications prior to release to subsequent manufacturing or shipping departments. Core duties encompass precise product inspection, the skilled utilization of advanced quality measurement instrumentation (including spectrometers and mil thickness gauges), accurate data recording within the Epicor ERP system, and providing essential support for material handling and packaging operations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional attention to detail, strong mechanical aptitude, and an unwavering commitment to quality consistency within a high-volume manufacturing environment.
Job requirements :
Quality Inspection and Verification
- Conduct thorough inspection of finished powder-coated products for all aesthetic and structural defects, including but not limited to coating thickness variation, color deviation, surface contamination, runs, orange peel, and physical damage.
- Operate and calibrate precision instruments, such as a spectrometer, Dry Film Thickness (DFT) gauge, and gloss meter, to accurately verify coating quality against established technical specifications.
- Document, analyze, and report all quality data in an accurate and timely manner.
- Proactively communicate quality control issues to production and coating operators immediately to facilitate root cause analysis and implement corrective measures, preventing recurrence.
- Participate in first-piece inspection and sign-off processes to validate process capability before full production runs commence.
Documentation and Data Integrity
Accurately input daily production metrics, inspection results, and comprehensive quality data into the Epicor ERP system.Manage and maintain both digital and physical inspection records for complete product traceability and audit readiness.Assist in the preparation of quality reports for internal performance reviews and external customer audits.Production Flow and Material Support
Handle finished components with extreme care as they are removed from the powder coating line, ensuring zero damage during transfer.Execute packaging, labeling, and preparation of parts for transfer to Assembly, Shipping, or other designated departments, strictly adhering to internal routing requirements.Verify product identification, count accuracy, and order reconciliation during all packaging and transfer activities.Maintain continuous workflow by organizing all materials, production racks, and packaging supplies within the designated work area.Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED equivalent.Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a high-volume manufacturing, quality inspection, or powder coating capacity.Proven ability to read and accurately interpret complex production orders, part drawings, and technical specifications.Proficiency in basic computer applications and data entry, with exposure to Epicor or similar Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems highly preferred.Exceptional attention to detail, strong manual dexterity, and the ability to perform precise, repetitive inspection tasks.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and sustain standing / walking for extended periods.Additional Requirements :
Hands-on experience operating spectrometers, paint thickness gauges, and other coating inspection tools.Demonstrated knowledge of powder coating processes, materials science, and curing operations.Familiarity with ISO 9001 or other recognized Quality Management Systems (QMS).Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing and 5S methodologies.Quality Focus & Accuracy : Demonstrating a meticulous approach to work and data integrity.Accountability & Reliability : Taking ownership of responsibilities and consistently meeting commitments.Communication & Teamwork : Effectively conveying information and collaborating within a production team setting.Organization & Time Management : Prioritizing tasks and maintaining an orderly workspace to optimize efficiency.Safety Awareness : Adhering to all safety protocols and actively promoting a safe work environment.Problem-Solving : Identifying quality anomalies and contributing to effective, lasting corrective actions.Benefits :
