Essential functions :
Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the Trinity Health Mission, Vision, and Values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.Greets patients upon arrival and enters patient information into the patient tracking system.Identifies and selects the correct medical record number for patients or creates a new one for new patients.Understands the requirements of various insurance payers and maintains knowledge of insurance requirements.Verifies physician scripts and follows up as needed.Understands the basics of coding diagnoses and procedures for insurance authorizations and Medicare compliance.Utilizes system generated Work Alerts and Work Queues to identify and resolve omissions or errors.Collects self-pay deposits, co-payments, and deductibles from patients.Posts patient payments into the hospital system and provides receipts.Assists and provides information to patients on financial assistance and the No Surprises Act.Explains and obtains legal signatures from patients or legal guardians.Assures admission or observation paperwork is transported to the correct Nursing Unit.Scans consents, cards, and scripts into the document imaging system.Coordinates with the Clinical Team to assure patient safety and efficient service delivery.Provides flexibility to serve in any outpatient registration area.Understands downtime and disaster protocols and implements procedures when necessary.Manages time effectively to perform complete registrations.Maintains high attention to detail and completes registrations to meet accuracy standards.Participates in educational and skills development activities.Participates in performance improvement initiatives and day-to-day tasks.Other duties as assigned by the manager.Must comply with Trinity Health policies and procedures.Maintains a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations.Minimum qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum of one year experience in patient access functions.HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one year.Minimum of one year hospital registration experience.Medical terminology and knowledge of diagnostic and procedural coding.Effective written and verbal communication skills.Ability to multi-task and prioritize needs.Customer service experience.Strong clerical and computer skills.Basic understanding of Microsoft Office.Excellent interpersonal skills.Accuracy, attentiveness to detail, and time management skills.Willingness to learn other registration related tasks.Comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.Personal presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring.Physical and mental requirements and working conditions :
Typical office environment.Frequent communication in person and over the phone.Manual dexterity needed to operate a keyboard.Ability to see at near visual acuity.Ability to set and organize work priorities.Ability to work concurrently on various tasks.Ability to sit and walk throughout the day.Occasional lifting / carrying up to 15 pounds and pushing patients up to 440 pounds.Our commitment :
