Alternatively eligible for a competitive class appointment if reachable on the current Safety & Security Officer Trainee 1 list. Within State Service : one year of permanent competitive or 55-b / 55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. To advance to the full performance level (Safety & Security Officer 1 SG-12), complete a 1-year traineeship and Academy Training mandated by the Municipal Police Training Council. Base pay range : $46,921.00 / yr - $67,564.00 / yr New York State pay range and eligibility for NY HELPS programs vary by role and experience. Generous benefits including NYS medical, dental, and vision insurance; tuition assistance; paid time off; and NYS retirement programs. Recruitment is for all three shifts. Background checks are required. Position types : Safety & Security Officer Trainee (SG-9, $46,921 - $57,901) and Safety & Security Officer 1 (SG-12, $55,012 - $67,564). This position is eligible for Downstate Adjustment of $4,000.
Overview
Safety & Security Officer 1 / Trainee (NY HELPS) at Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center, P26998. This position is eligible for Downstate Adjustment and offers growth opportunities within New York State.
Duties
- Patrol and inspect assigned areas; ensure areas are properly locked and secured.
- Conduct safety inspections of areas and equipment for compliance with safety codes and regulations.
- Screen visitors and vehicles, issue temporary parking permits and badges.
- Transport or escort individuals, visitors, and employees on and off facility grounds.
- Respond to incidents and emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications
Additional requirements include : background checks, valid New York State driver's license at appointment and continuously thereafter, residency in New York State, age 18+, and successful completion of medical / physical evaluations prior to appointment.
