Overview
RAICES seeks to hire a Case Manager for the Refugee Resettlement Program. Under the supervision of the Resettlement Program Manager, the Case Manager will implement extensive case management services for eligible clients in a timely and compliant manner, contributing to community orientation, early employment, and self-sufficiency. This position is based in San Antonio, TX. This role is union eligible and grant-funded; if funding is substantially reduced or ceases, the position may be terminated and / or subject to applicable collective bargaining agreement requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provide case management services to refugees and other displaced persons, including pre-arrival arrangements, coordination of housing, orientation / client education, and other basic needs enrollments within program requirements and timeframes, utilizing in-house services and referrals to external providers.
- Provide Cultural Orientation to all adults in the caseload within 90 days.
- Ensure timely requests of cash assistance in accordance with federal guidelines and within 90 days.
- Document all visits and case management activities as required by federal regulations and Resettlement leadership.
- Ensure transportation for newly arrived clients to initial appointments as required, in compliance with child safety laws.
- Assist clients in engaging in activities that facilitate self-sufficiency and independent task performance.
- Identify needs and barriers and communicate follow-up to case managers and the Program Manager as needed.
- Maintain organized case files as outlined by the funder and Resettlement leadership; submit required information in a timely manner.
- Some evenings and weekends may be required; flex schedule will be arranged as necessary to accommodate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
High School degree or equivalent.Automobile travel required; valid driver's license with a good driving record and insurance required.Experience working with refugee populations and community services.Fluency in one of the languages spoken by clients : Spanish, Burmese, Tigrinya, Swahili, Pashto, or Arabic (preferred).Basic understanding of Excel and Word; ability to learn to use an internal case management database.Physical ability to carry up to 25 lbs; ability to load / unload donated items; standing for periods.Comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment; compassionate and patient toward individuals served with a basic understanding of refugee services.Able to work some evenings and weekends; flex schedules arranged as necessary to accommodate.Preferred Qualifications
Bachelors Degree in a related social service field.Fluency in one of the languages spoken by clients : Spanish, Burmese, Tigrinya, Swahili, Pashto, or Arabic.Basic understanding of Excel and Word and ability to utilize an internal case management database.Physical requirements may include carrying up to 25 lbs, loading / unloading donated items, standing and carrying items.Comfortable working in a cross-cultural environment; compassionate and patient toward individuals served with a basic understanding of refugee services; able to work some evenings and weekends with flex schedules as necessary.Attributes
