• Ability to work in a high-paced environment with fluctuating ratios

Description :

This position is for a float nurse on an acuity adaptable unit.

Patients in this unit range from medical-surgical level of care to PCU and ICU level care.

Patient ratios can vary from 1 : 4 to 1 : 6 depending on the patient type and acuity level.

Nurses will need to be comfortable moving to an inpatient PCU unit when necessary.

The nurse will work with stable patients who are boarded until discharge or transfer.

In this boarding unit, patients are moved if they become unstable.

The unit may accommodate 4 to 10 patients depending on staffing and acuity needs.

Team nursing will occur frequently, with registered nurses working alongside licensed practical nurses.

Nurses will need to be adept at delegation and collaboration with LPNs.

The setting is fast-paced and may see multiple admissions on any given day.

The RN should be flexible and efficient in managing care for a fluctuating number of patients.

Nurses must work 2 out of 3 major holidays and every other weekend.

Knowledge of specific charting systems and protocols is required.

The RN should demonstrate skills in managing various patient care needs and adhering to safety protocols.

Candidates will float within the facility and may float to affiliated hospitals as necessary.
