Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level I Trauma Emergency Department position requiring a current MI RN license and advanced certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a hospital-based Level I Trauma Emergency Department
  • Specialized in trauma, stroke, heart, and pediatric emergency care
  • Patient ratios typically 1 : 5-6, possibly up to 1 : 8 during high census or holidays
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts from 19 : 00 to 07 : 30
  • Required to work at least 3 weekends (Friday-Sunday) per 4-week period
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating to pediatric emergency cases may be required
  • Uses Epic EMR; experience preferred but training provided during orientation
  • Responsible for providing high-acuity emergency care to adult and pediatric populations
  • Care for trauma, stroke, cardiac, and pediatric emergencies
  • May be assigned high patient ratios during periods of increased department volume
  • Must be willing to work at least 2 of 3 major holidays during the assignment, with ability to request one holiday off
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this position
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate as travel candidates and may work one contract only
  • Returning staff must have a 12-month gap before eligibility for rehire
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at the time of application; 5 days maximum per assignment and certain holiday blocks are not approved
  • Pre-employment modules required prior to start
  • Requirements

  • Active MI RN license required by start date; compact licenses are not accepted
  • Certifications required : ACLS, BLS (AHA only), PALS, TNCC, ENPC, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 1.5 years recent Level I trauma emergency department experience required; 2 years preferred
  • Experience interpreting and managing dysrhythmias required
  • Epic charting experience required or must be obtained in orientation
  • Proof of high school level education is strictly required for consideration
