Position Overview

At JGM, a Millwright Forman plans and safely executes work activities, while providing technical assistance to the team. You will work directly with Clients, Superintendent, Project Managers, and the Field Operations Manager to establish a solid understanding of project strategy and specifications. You will be leading crews to execute a successful project. Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate the activities of workers involved in assembling, installing, aligning, and dismantling processing equipment, machinery, conveyors, steel structures, and other heavy components.
  • Utilize various hand tools and equipment such as hoists, dollies, rollers, forklifts, and cranes to move machinery and equipment safely.
  • Select appropriate methods and tools based on the weight and size of the load.
  • Continuously plan work to ensure your team has the necessary materials and equipment to safely and efficiently deliver high-quality results.
  • Participate in project pre-planning and short-term planning sessions.
  • Monitor your teams safe execution of work while ensuring the highest quality of the finished product.
  • Set and track production goals, reporting progress to the project team through daily logs.
  • Coordinate project details and provide guidance on procedures and safety requirements.
  • Delegate tasks, and continuously train and develop future foremen and journeymen, providing constructive feedback.
  • Read and interpret blueprint drawings and specifications.
  • Operate equipment such as man lifts, forklifts, welding units, and other machinery as needed.
  • Qualifications

  • Experience : 5-10 years as a journeyman Millwright in heavy industrial environments, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role. Must have experience in precision equipment setting and alignment using necessary tools (Theodolite, laser tracking, etc.)
  • Technical Skills : Proficient in troubleshooting mechanical systems, interpreting blueprints, and using industry-standard tools and equipment. Strong knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, repair, and maintenance.
  • Leadership : Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, set and achieve goals, and provide constructive feedback. Strong strategic thinking with a results-driven mindset.
  • Communication : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively coordinate with team members and clients. Bilingual is a plus.
  • Adaptability : Quick learner, able to thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Certifications : Valid Drivers License. OSHA 30 or ability to complete upon hiring (training will be provided). NCCER and rigging credentials are a plus.
  • Industry Knowledge : Strong preference for candidates with industrial construction experience.
  • Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Requires prolonged walking, standing, sitting, bending, squatting, stooping, climbing, regular lifting and carrying to move up to 50 lbs., talking, hearing, reaching, feeling, grasping, and push / pulling.
  • Must be able to work in various weather conditions / temperatures.
  • Regular mental and visual attention much or all the time with manual coordination.
  • Flexibility required to travel for all projects.
