SUMMARY :

The Estimator / Procurement Specialist plays a critical role in supporting aerospace manufacturing and engineering operations by accurately forecasting project costs and securing high-quality materials, components, and services. This dual-function role bridges financial planning and supply chain management to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to exacting aerospace standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Estimating

  • Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and technical data to develop detailed cost estimates for aerospace components and systems.
  • Collaborate with design, engineering, and production teams to assess labor, materials, tooling, and overhead costs.
  • Prepare bid packages and pricing proposals for government and commercial aerospace contracts.
  • Monitor cost trends and provide variance analysis to support budgeting and forecasting.
  • Evaluate historical data and market conditions to refine cost models and improve accuracy.
  • Procurement

  • Source and negotiate with suppliers for aerospace-grade materials, parts, and services.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, ITAR, and other aerospace industry standards and regulations.
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance, including quality, delivery, and cost metrics.
  • Coordinate with logistics and inventory teams to optimize supply chain efficiency.
  • Support make-or-buy decisions and long-term sourcing strategies aligned with program goals.
  • REQUIRED SKILLSET

  • Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes and materials.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as drawings, blueprints, production schedules, contractual agreements, Requests for Quotation or Requests for Proposal, as well as various customer documents relating to the same.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals or groups of customers or employees.
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Office including Word, Excel, Outlook required.
  • Proficiency in cost estimating software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
  • Knowledge of FAR / DFARS regulations and government contracting (for defense-related roles).
  • Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
  • At least 5-7 years estimating experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Associate's degree or equivalent required or relevant experience (Engineering and applicable certifications preferred)
  • ITAR REQUIREMENTS :

  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
