About The Position

Job Title : Anesthesia Technician

Profession : Allied Anesthesia Tech

Shift : 4x10.0

Hours per Shift : Sunday - Wednesday; 6 : 30am - 4 : 30pm EST

Experience : Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Technician

License : BLS preferred (American Heart Association ONLY)

Certifications : Certification by a nationally recognized professional certifying body is preferred.

Must-Have :

  • Two years of experience is highly desired.
  • BLS certification preferred.

Description :

Anesthesia Technicians assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia.

Responsibilities include the preparation of anesthesia equipment prior to the patient's arrival.

Placement of anesthesia monitors is required.

The technician will ensure the cleanliness of anesthesia equipment.

It is essential to ensure the availability of specialized anesthesia equipment and supplies.

Technicians will set up medications and supplies where applicable.

Continuous communication with anesthesiologists, residents, and other personnel is necessary.

Assistance with difficult intubations and placement of central line catheters is expected.

Technicians operate the cell-saver machine and keep track of lab reports.

Participation in advanced surgical cases including cardiac, liver transplant, and trauma is required.

Providing primary support in ensuring anesthesia equipment is in good working order is essential.

Preventive maintenance must be completed on all equipment.

Technicians will set up and operate sophisticated equipment and perform advanced troubleshooting.

Assisting in the development and implementation of in-service training programs is part of the job.

The technician will aid in training staff in the roles and responsibilities of an anesthesia technologist.

Anesthesia equipment setup and troubleshooting tasks are to be performed regularly.

This includes testing infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors.

Calibrating anesthesia machines and attaching fiberoptic bronchoscopes to video monitors is required.

All rooms are to be set up between cases, and carts should be organized throughout the day.

Backup support to the shift supervisor may be needed during their absence.

Additional duties may be assigned by the supervisor or other managerial staff.
