Supervisor, Electric Billing
The Supervisor, Electric Billing, will assist the Manager of Billing Operations and provide support where needed. This position requires maintaining a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality and assisting in coordinating all jobs assigned to the section. Responsibility will require substantial independent judgment. Strict adherence to EPB policies and procedures is required.
Assist the Manager in supervising, delegating, recognizing training needs, and directing the work assignments and schedules following policies, procedures, and departmental work rules.
Assume responsibility for the assigned section in the Manager's absence and perform other related duties as assigned.
Assist in maintaining accurate documentation regarding employment, placement, attendance, work schedule, transfer, disciplinary action, and change in status or compensation of assigned personnel. Keep daily time records.
Keep the Manager informed of department progress, attributes, problems, customer compliments and complaints, and trends concerning the section. Make recommendations for revisions or improvements as needed. Consult the Manager on more difficult assignments.
Assist the Manager in creating a positive work environment by personally demonstrating appropriate knowledge, methods, and attitude. Assure that adequate training and motivation are provided to all section employees, and that continued emphasis is placed on achieving excellent customer service.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing with other employees and customers on matters related to the section.
Work with an acceptable degree of speed and accuracy, performing routine tasks, designing own format within predetermined parameters.
Know the appropriate written safety rules and procedures and adhere to them. Attend safety meetings and actively participate in safety awareness programs and activities.
Assist employees in getting daily processes completed on schedule.
Talk with customers who have questions / problems with their bills and make sensible adjustments if needed.
Monitor the performance of section personnel through performance appraisals, cross-training, and counseling / coaching.
Qualifications include an associate's degree with four (4) to ten (10) years of related experience and / or training. Internal candidates must have five (5) years EPB experience or experience that is equivalent, as determined by the Department Manager or Division Vice-President.
Demonstrated ability to deal effectively and tactfully with difficult and / or unexpected situations. Ability to understand and appreciate employee and / or customer problems or requests and work cooperatively.
Demonstrated proficiency in word processing skills using the standard EPB word processing application software; spreadsheet and charting skills using the standard EPB spreadsheet application software. Ability to access customer and / or EPB records relating to customer service.
Certifications & Other Requirements include a valid driver's license and demonstrate the safe and responsible operation of motor vehicles. Must operate motor vehicles during normal working hours to perform various assigned tasks.

Ability to organize information into usable and meaningful form; to establish and maintain records and files.
Ability to plan and organize work and to maintain a productive output of assigned areas of responsibility from day to day.
