Revenue Cycle Innovation Specialist
Position Summary
The Revenue Cycle Innovation Specialist is responsible for improving hospital revenue cycle workflows by leveraging Epic and other core operational systems, aligning with payer compliance requirements, and implementing innovative solutions. This role focuses on identifying system inefficiencies and workflow gaps across both front-end and back-end revenue cycle operations, and developing practical, sustainable improvements. The Specialist collaborates cross-functionally with stakeholders to deliver compliant and effective solutions that support organizational goals, operational efficiency, and overall performance across the hospital’s revenue cycle environment.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following :
1. Analyze Current Revenue Cycle Workflows within the hospital, particularly within the Epic system modules including HB (Hospital Billing), ADT (Admissions, Discharges, Transfers), Grand Central, and Prelude and other operational systems.
2. Own the lifecycle of revenue cycle enhancements—from discovery and requirements gathering through testing, implementation, training, and post-go-live support.
3. Identify workflow inefficiencies and propose innovative, streamlined solutions in collaboration with key stakeholders.
4. Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including Revenue Cycle team members, IT personnel, consultants, and end-users, to grasp workflow intricacies and implement workflow & system enhancements.
5. Identify the root causes of claim edits related to registration, charge entry, and coding to support downstream billing accuracy and edit prevention.
6. Work closely with Epic Consultants to ensure build updates are accurately and efficiently implemented.
7. Attend various Governance Committee meetings to keep up to date with Epic changes across the Montefiore Health System.
8. Develop and maintain clear documentation, including workflow guides, tip sheets, and training materials to support end-user adoption.
9. Actively participate in the testing and validation of workflow modifications and system upgrades.
10. Deliver comprehensive training sessions and reeducation to support changes in workflows, Epic updates, and best practices.
11. Stay current with the latest industry trends, Epic functionality, and payer requirements to identify system and workflow innovation opportunities.
12. Conduct regular audits to evaluate workflow effectiveness, identify improvement opportunities, and support reeducation efforts.
13. Serve as a resource to internal stakeholders for guidance on revenue cycle workflows, Epic functionality, and system issue resolution.
14. Troubleshoot workflow and system issues, propose enhancements, and provide timely support to minimize operational disruption.
15. Ensure training documentation and resources are up-to-date and easily accessible to assist users in performing their tasks effectively.
16. Communicate information clearly, both verbally and written, promoting active engagement and collaboration among trainees.
17. Responsible for participating in committees, task forces, and projects as appropriate.
18. Responsible for compliance with hospital and human resources policies and procedures, competency, and education requirements are satisfied as per hospital policy.
19. Ensures the provision of a safe employee / patient environment.
20. Works collaboratively with all levels of the hospital interdisciplinary team and promotes team concepts within their department and hospital wide.
21. Demonstrates positive customer service, fosters positive employee relations, and assures that staff adheres to the Customer Service Behavioral Standards.
22. Is supportive to hospital initiatives and projects and functions as a positive change agent.
23. Promotes a positive and professional image and is a role model, coach, mentor, and resource for staff and peers.
24. Reports to the Sr. Manager of Training & Innovation.
25. Understands and adheres to the WPH Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
26. Performs all other related duties as assigned.

Salary Range : $79,737.64- $119,553.33
